Matt Zash Police Statement
They both came into the living room from the green tiled bathroom (never coming through my room which I chained shut). The living room was arranged with a circle couches. I was sitting on my computer chair inside Dan's room with Edward Douglas and Ryan McFadyen
We watched the two girls fondle each other in the middle of the living room ...afterward, the three of us (Ed and Ryan) went into my room and watched Letterman.
Shortly afterward (approx 5 min) there was a commotion and people started and people started walking in my room via Dan's entrance.
[after the broom comment]
Strippers both storm out of the room [living room] walk through Dave's room and into the bathroom.
The two strippers locked themselves in the green tiled bathroom and wouldn't come out.
Still in my room I hear Danny outside my room in front of the bathroom pleading with them to come out.
When I hear that both strippers are now out of the house I unlock my door chain and lock the back door ( and also the back door that leads to the kitchen)
In the green tiled bathroom I found 3 or 4 red plastic nails and threw them in the garbage (in that bathroom). I went outside.....and found Dave's belongings and a stripper's belongings under our bathroom window outside the house. The contents...
Dave's belongings: fusion razor, shaving cream and tube of toothpaste, travel toilette[?] bag.
Other belongings: make up: Crystal Mangum identification and cell phone. Also a purse-like bag.
David Evans Police Statement
[After the broom comment]
The hispanic girl freaked out and ran back into my room....Danny tried to convince the girls to go back out.
[after being outside]
They went back into the back bathroom together.
They left out the back door. At this point Matt and I locked the house.
Matt thinks they tried to jump out the window when they were together in the bathroom in order to get away with all the money...
Dan Flannery Police Statement
They entered Dave's bathroom to change and discuss their routine...
Most of the party was gathered in the front TV room listening to music drinking waiting for the girls to begin. When the girls came out of the bathroom I showed them to the front room and guys were cheering and yelling,
After Peter's comment the the hispanic stripper grabbed the black stripper and went into Dave's room. I followed her into the room with Dave, and I believe Kyle Dowd and Tony McDevitt. ...The girls requested their money and i gave Dave and extra $100 to get them out & pay them. The two girls entered the bathroom. I did not see the money transfer. I was told they were paid. The hispanic striper stormed out the backdoor with the black stripper...
David Roy Cooper's Summary of Conclusions April 27, 2007
Each of the dancers was paid $400 in cash. Flannery showed both dancers to a bathroom to get ready for their dancing.
Sometime just before midnight, the two dancers entered the living room to begin their performance for the party attendees.
[After the broom comment]
the dancers left the room and retreated to the back of the house.
They were followed by David Evans, Dan Flannery, and possibly others who tried to assuage their feelings about the broomstick comment while pointing out that the party attendees had paid $800 for only a brief performance. The dancers returned to the bathroom where they had left their belongings.
The dancers eventually left the bathroom and went to the back yard together.Flannery went outside to talk with them. He urged them to come back into the house to continue the performance.
The dancers had a conversation at the car. Then they both re-entered the house through the back door. Once inside the house, other attendees apologized to the dancers for the earlier comments. The individual who earlier held up the broomstick then approached the dancers which caused Nikki to become angry again, and the dancers went back into the bathroom alone together and refused to come out.
The dancers opened the bathroom door and left 610 N. Buchanan Blvd. for the second time through the back door sometime before 12:30 a.m. Nikki and Flannery together walked to her car parked on the street in front of the house. The accusing witness remained behind outside the house. With both dancers and most of the party attendees out of the house, Zash locked the door of the back porch of the house to prevent the accusing witness or anyone else from re-entering the house. The accusing witness began banging on the door to get in. Zash refused to
open the door.
Yaeger/Pressler book pp. 9-11:
At midnight, the exotic dancers emerged from the back bathroom, where Kim had had changed into her outfit. They strolled down a short hallway and into the living room, were nearly thirty guys, some of whom were friends of the Duke lacrosse players, waited for the show.
Kim said she pulled Crystal into the nearby bathroom of the three bedroom house and locked the door
What the women were doing in the bathroom, adjacent to the bedroom of one of the captains....a player began to slip bills under the locked door.
The strippers finally emerged from the bathroom at 12:20 A.M. An incoherent Crystal followed Kim out of the backdoor.
One player approached the driver's side of Kim's car and apologized to the women asking them to come back into the house to collect their belongings Crystal left her purse in the bathroom and her shoe in the living room. [Crystal] stumbled up the back doorstep. She stepped in and grabbed her purse from the bathroom, which was three feet from the back door. She also grabbed David Evan's shaving kit. As she stepped back outside players locked the doors and wouldn't let her back inside.
Crystal started pounding on the back door and reached into her purse to grab her phone. And at 2:26 she made a call to Centerfold Escorts. Drunk and confused Crystal stood at the top of the steps for a moment....She smiled at a player who was standing in the driveway snapping photographs. Then she lost her balance....reached for the iron railing..She lay at the bottom of the stairs.

"The fact that Mr. Zash's DNA in any form was found in his own bathroom is evidence of nothing related to his case," said Kerry Sutton, Zash's attorney.
Another specimen matched to Evans was recovered from a towel found in a hallway near Evans' room and the second bathroom in the house.
